Most of you have forgotten

I would put a thousand JDs on it, most of you have forgotten. You felt so bad at the time, donating your facebook status, changing your profile pictures, writing notes, posting videos, participating in protests all around the world, donating clothes and money, even not celebrating the new year. And now what? You move on with your life, you might even delete the imagen561646064_1754908_6475 and the memory from your head. That’s what some people do. Right now I am both happy and sad. Happy that i still see a few people around me thinking about this entire issue, praying, trying to help, simply REMEMBERING. That’s all i ask of you, remember, don’t forget, maybe even try and fight. Sad that most of you have forgotten.

The other day my university took us on a trip to Umm Qays in the north of Jordan to visit a site for our next project, for all those of you who are new i study architecture, and so we took a bus and drove, drove, and drove some more with a couple of bitches in the back drilling a hole in my head bi aswat-hom il jameeleh :p. Il mohiz we drove and drove, we walked and walked and then we got there, it’s now my favorite place in Jordan :D. We sat on the top of this mountain, with miles and miles of mountains and trees all around us and the Golan Heights infront of us. The most important part was that i saw it, I saw Palestine :). Right there below me was Lake Tiberias (bo7ayret 6abariya). Right there infront of me was Palestine. I wished i could just walk the few kilometers from where I was standing towards my country.

Sometimes I wish i can do more, I know some of you will tell me that i can, so if you’re going to please provide that with examples other than donating clothes and money, because i doubt that clothes and money will ever free a country.

Now this week, starting from tomorrow the first of March is Israeli Apartheid Week. Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) is an annual international series of events held in cities and campuses across the globe. The aim of IAW is to educate people about the nature of Israel as an apartheid system and to build Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaigns as part of a growing global BDS movement.click here.

This year, IAW happens in the wake of Israel’s barbaric assault on the people of Gaza. Lectures, films, and actions will make the point that these latest massacres further confirm the true nature of Israeli Apartheid. It is taking place in more than 40 cities across the globe such as Bethlehem, Birzeit, Hebron, Jenin, Jericho, Qalqilya, Nablus and Tulkarem in Palestine, Boston, Chicago, London (UK), Montréal, New York City, San Francisco, Toronto and many more. I was looking for Amman on the list, you guessed it we’re still sitting on our butts doing nothing :). For more information about this click here.

  1. Dee, everyone has forgotten :(..
I’m turning the next week of posts into IAW posts.
Quoting a very early post of mine, back when the war first stopped
“But alas, the fighting is over, and the passion seems to have faded, and the tears replaced by vodka shots in local pubs.”
